Young & Hungry season 5 episode 11 return date still unknown, even to cast
In a new post on Twitter, series star Emily Osment confirmed that she doesn’t know when the Freeform series is coming back — and neither does anyone else in the cast. This is frustrating, to say the least, especially since the last episode of the comedy aired all the way back in May.
So, what’s going on here? To CarterMatt, it seems that Freeform is changing course. Basically, what we’ve seen from them the past year or so is a real push away from many of the shows that previously aired on ABC Family — shows like Switched at Birth, Babby Daddy, and Pretty Little Liars are all now over. Some of them got proper endings, but it’s still interesting to note that they are all gone. Meanwhile, Young & Hungry is now set to join them. Osment confirmed that the upcoming ten episodes are the show’s last, though that announcement is hardly a surprise given the fact that it’s been off the air for so long with so little promotion. We’ll admit that in terms of the ratings, we’re not altogether surprised by the news; season 5 of the series (at least the first half of it) was down 20% in the demo from season 4, and it wasn’t performing better than some of Freeform’s other shows on the air.
While we understand that networks do need to rebrand and try to push things forward, why have that come at the expense of a show beloved by many people? At this point, we just want the majority of Young & Hungry fans to be able to enjoy the final stretch of episodes with some sort of advance warning. Also, we’re hoping that there is a fitting conclusion at the end of it.
