Hawaii Five-0 season 8 will have 25 episodes, even with hiatus

Just in case you were worried that the Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode count was being trimmed because of the Olympics starting up this week, CarterMatt has some good news — and a reason for you not to worry.

In a new post on Twitter, show executive producer Peter M. Lenkov noted that we will, once again, have 25 episodes of the show this year. We’re still shocked that the cast and crew are able to do this many episodes without passing out, but we’re certainly not complaining! This means that there are many more opportunities ahead to see the Hawaii Five-0 ohana in action for a wide array of different cases.

This is the fourth straight season in which Hawaii Five-0 has generated 25 episodes in a season, and every season to date has aired at least 22. One of the reasons why the show is able to pull something this amazing off is because they have a large enough cast, and can often divide up the responsibilities so that everyone has some work without having to dominate every second of every episode. For example, there are some episodes that are heavy on McGarrett, Grover gets some spotlights over the course of a season, and we imagine that we’ll see Tani and Junior increasingly at the center of more stories now that we know them better. There are also a few episodes here and there without Scott Caan.

The fact that Hawaii Five-0 season 8 is getting 25 episodes should be a reminder to most fans out there that CBS still loves the show and there is zero intention for it to be going anywhere in the near future. We hope that there is that formal season 9 renewal over the coming months; typically, the network announces some sort of bulk renewal over the spring, well before you get around to May sweeps.
