Best Poldark ‘ships (February 2018): Ross / Demelza, Dwight / Caroline, and more
While we know that there is so much more to this show beyond just romance, it would be foolish to proclaim that it was not a key part of what attracts viewers to the series. The love stories are times heartwarming and also heartbreaking. CarterMatt has come to care a lot about the characters and it’s because of that investment we get so emotionally torn-up when bad things happen to them.
What we want to do in this article, much as we’ve been doing with many other shows over the past few weeks, is look at what you think is the best overall ‘ship on the show as of February 2018. We’re focusing here on pairings that are either popular with fans or heavily discussed when it comes to the story at present.
At the bottom of this article there is a poll for you to state your favorite — note that voting for the poll will run from now until Sunday, February 11 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. Feel free to vote however often you want!
Now, let’s get to sharing some of the ‘ships.
Ross and Demelza – It’s the clear favorite for many reasons, starting with the fact that they are the central, beloved couple at the heart of the series. Despite many of their trials and tribulations, you do still want to root for them to work through it all.
Dwight and Caroline – There was actually a time early on in season 3 that we worried they were not going to make it. First, we thought Dr. Enys would be killed in France; then, we were concerned about him not being able to recover from his PTSD. Now, though, they seem to be moving in the right direction.
Morwenna and Drake – Can these two just get together? For one, they’re incredibly kind and sweet to one another; also, it means that Morwenna is not forced to be with Whitworth anymore. We do think that is something that all fans of the show can get behind.
Warleggan and Elizabeth – We think that George is pretty much a louse, but maybe there are fans who loved it when Elizabeth told him off in the finale. We’re not sure that constitutes a ‘ship, but they’re married and this is therefore a worthy inclusion.
Demelza and Hugh – At the end of season 3, Demelza chose to be with Hugh Armitage after he started to give his attention and adoration to her — she had not been getting it in her marriage for such a long time that she took that leap.
