Top Chef: Colorado timeslot change; episode 9 sneak peek!

Top Chef: Colorado timeslot change

Before we start to get into a preview for Top Chef: Colorado episode 9, the first thing worth noting is that there is a timeslot change ahead! The show is shifting over to air at 9:00 p.m. Eastern, so be sure to either watch or set your DVR accordingly. (Personally, we preferred the series where it was on the schedule, but that’s just a matter of personal preference.)

We will of course be back tonight with a new review and a look at the latest Last Chance Kitchen episode, but before that, the sneak peek below gives you a little bit more insight regarding the aftermath of Restaurant Wars. This is one of the most intense challenges every season on the show, and at the end of it this year Claudette was understandably sent home.

We suppose that, on some level, there is a sense of relief that reverberates through every Top Chef kitchen the moment after an elimination — after all, it means that there is one less person that you have to compete against for the grand prize! Yet, on some occasions there is probably a degree of sadness given that you do come to care about some of these people after spending so much time with them during the season. This situation is a little bit different, mostly due to the fact that Claudette was a lightning rod when she was in the kitchen. As it’s pointed out in the preview, she doesn’t exactly play well on a team with others. She has her own objectives and works hard to achieve them; yet, she doesn’t exactly put a lot of effort into helping other people feel like they are successful, as well. Being ruthless and confident in your cooking is probably great in the outside world but doesn’t always work well with this show.

As for what’s coming on Top Chef: Colorado tonight beyond the Claudette talk, the synopsis below gives you a sense:

Cooking for Michelin-starred Chef David Kinch adds pressure to an already stressful Sudden Death Quickfire based on edible flowers and the chefs are crushed as one of their own is sent packing. Then, the chefs are challenged to put an elevated slant on pre-game food as they host the ultimate tailgate party at Sports Authority Field at Mile High for the Denver Broncos, the judges, Mayor Michael Hancock and BBQ Pitmaster Adam Perry Lang. Who will throw a game winning touchdown and which chef will make a fourth-quarter fumble?

By the end of this episode, we could see another two chefs gone from the competition — which, in turn, could make Last Chance Kitchen all the more intense.
