Grey’s Anatomy season 14: Should Lea Michele appear?

Lea Michele

On this past episode of Grey’s Anatomy season 14, we said goodbye to Matthew Morrison and his character of Dr. Paul Stadler. It wasn’t a difficult goodbye, mostly because Stadler was an abusive and terrible man who tried to destroy every woman who was close to him; nonetheless, Morrison was fantastic in the role.

So is it possible that another former Glee star in Lea Michele could be next up to take on a role? While we cannot say for certain, one thing feels clear: She is absolutely game to give it a shot. In a recent post on Twitter, Michele sent a fun request to Shonda Rhimes to be able to come on board with a spot of her own.

As Michele points out, there is some connective tissue between her and Grey’s Anatomy already — Sarah Drew, who plays Dr. April Kepner, appeared pretty early on during Glee’s run as Suzy Pepper. That was an amusing role, but a part that wasn’t around for very long.

What sort of role could Michele play? If we are going down this rabbit hole, the obvious answer is some sort of patient who sticks around for a couple of episodes and has some sort of impact on the doctors. If she’s a doctor or a relative of one of the main characters, there’s a chance for her to stick around a little bit longer. Given that Lea’s current show in The Mayor doesn’t seem to be coming back, there may be a little bit of flexibility for her to land a role here or somewhere else.

If Grey’s Anatomy does want to cast Michele — or any other prominent guest star, for that matter — there is still a little bit of time in order to make it happen. Filming for the ABC series should continue until the spring, and there are many episodes still to air, including a new one coming up on Thursday. (Like many other major broadcast networks, much of ABC is going to be off the air for the Olympics.)
