Vera season 9 renewal hopes: Should it return to ITV?

Vera season 9 renewal

Should there be a Vera season 9 coming to ITV in the future? We know that the demand is going to be very much there. Vera Stanhope has become over time a little bit of an institution across the pond, as her mysteries and adventures have compelled audiences for years. The seasons, unfortunately, are always super-short. You virtually blink and they are over.

With season 8 now over, it does feel like the time is right to discuss whether or not a Vera season 9 should happen? Unfortunately, as of now there is no official confirmation but it does appear likely. Brenda Blethyn, who plays the brilliant title character of Vera Stanhope, has long maintained a willingness to come back as the character if the stars align the right way. We don’t foresee anything changing this year in comparison to years past, so why not go ahead and find a way to make this happen if you are ITV?

We would love to see the order extended at some point in the near future to six episodes, but in reality, one of the reasons why Vera probably works so well is because of the fairly-limited episode order. This is a show that has excelled giving you a little bit of something that you love and then leave you wanting more. This does help to ensure that whenever the series ends, there will still be a feeling as though there was something more left on the table. That’s not something that you really get with a lot of other shows out there with this long a life.

Would it also surprise us if Vera someday becomes a little more like Sherlock, where you get an assortment of new episodes every couple of years as opposed to it being an annual tradition? Not really, but we don’t think we are near that point right now. Let’s enjoy Vera however long we have it and then worry about the future when we arrive at a point where we need to.

Once there is a little bit more insight on the future of the series, rest assured that there will be news at the site.
