SEAL Team episode 13 promo: Death, high stakes, and fear

SEAL Team premiere ratings

SEAL Team episode 13 is airing on CBS Wednesday night, and just in watching the promo along you get a sense that this episode could have very well been a season finale for the ages.

As it turns out, originally “Getaway Day” was meant to be the season 1 finale back when the series had a 13-episode order. Clearly this was planned out to be a big, emotional episode that showed everything that SEAL Team could be — a series all about loyalty, service, and working hard to achieve the common goal. While many CBS dramas are all about trying to take out dangerous people, this show is something different. It puts you right on the front lines.

During “Getaway Day” we’ll see Jason and his team put out there in the center of danger as a response to what happened to another team; they are going to put their lives on the line in support of others who may have lost theirs. The sight of the coffins draped with American flags at the end of the promo is sobering; it’s a reminder to viewers as to what real-life SEAL Team members are fighting for. We don’t think that the characters really need that reminder when they are out there in the field; it’s just another motivation to get the job done.

Expect this episode to contain a number of action sequences and then a powerful, emotional zenith. In some ways it may as well be a midseason finale, given that after it airs you are going to be waiting for a rather long time to see these characters back in action (think in terms of a month, give or take). The Winter Olympics will give you a chance to catch your breath before the action picks back up.
