One Day at a Time season 3 renewal: Will it happen at Netflix?
For the time being, we would argue that there is a serious reason for optimism. While this may not be the comedy on the streaming service’s roster that is generating more attention than anything else on the schedule, it is one of their most well-reviewed comedies — it’s shockingly remained a little bit under the bubble when it comes to awards consideration but who knows? Maybe season 2 is when it ends up bursting through.
There are a number of reasons for Netflix to want to keep One Day at a Time on the air. For one, you’ve got the nostalgia factor. While this is a remake rather than a revival of the classic series, we do think that there’s still a lot of familiar themes touched on here that were in the original so many decades ago. Beyond that, this show is a celebration of diversity and the different cultures that call America home. It’s a show that is very much needed; every walk of life can find something to enjoy about it.
We imagine that a One Day at a Time season 3 renewal will be made official by the time summer rolls around; as for a possible premiere date, at present we feel fairly confident that it could be coming in the first few months of 2019. There is obviously something about this time of the year that Netflix really likes, and we have a hard time imagining that they are going to want to move far away from it. If the show does work here, why would they want to?
