Outlander star Sam Heughan’s My Peak Challenge reaches massive threshold

Sam Heughan

Who is ready for a late-night Outlander update? Tonight, we come bearing some great news when it comes to Sam Heughan’s My Peak Challenge initiative. There are many different tenants to being a “Peaker,” and they includes being a part of the community, working to improve your overall health, and of course raising money for charity. Heughan’s chosen charity is Bloodwise, which raises money for blood cancer research. The latter is absolutely paying off in a big way.

Earlier Saturday, Heughan officially revealed the great news that My Peak Challenge had officially crossed the $1 million threshold in donations, and you can hear more about that in the video below. It’s a tremendous achievement, and it says quite a bit about the giving nature of Outlander fans. They do a lot to help themselves and their health through MPC, but they are also doing quite a bit for others … and just writing that out is an understatement if there ever was one. A million dollars’ worth of donations in just a handful of years is incredible, and given that almost $600,000 was raised last year alone, it’s very well possible that the figure could escalate in the years to come as more people become aware of Bloodwise and the work that they do thanks to Outlander and Heughan’s ties to the charity.

Charitable trailblazers

Almost from the jump charitable giving has been important for both Heughan and his co-star Caitriona Balfe, who is a patron and avid supporter of World Child Cancer. What these two are doing is introducing a new avenue into the world of celebrity, one that closely ties performers to organizations in need of donations and support. By being so closely tied to these groups over the years they can form a strong bond that, in turn, is carried over and remembered by the fans. The association helps to ensure that these groups are always front of mind anytime you think of the performer. Our hope is that, over time, this is something that many other actors will consider when they start to emerge within the public eye.

Congratulations once more to Bloodwise, Heughan, and the entire My Peak Challenge community.
