Supergirl season 3 episode 13 spoilers: Who is Purity?

Who is Purity? You may wonder about this question if you hear the name bandied about prior to Supergirl season 3 episode 13 — but we’re here with some answers.

At the end of this past episode of the CW series, we learned that Reign was far from the only Worldkiller out there, and the reason that this is valuable is that it gives her a little bit more ammunition as she prepares to execute the next overall phase of her plan. We’ve already seen her working to purge National City, but with Supergirl starting to gain the upper hand as of late, she’s going to need a little bit of help. This is where Purity does come into play. She is a character played by Krys Marshall, and the Supergirl season 3 episode 13 synopsis below offers up a little more information as to what is coming.

THE DEO CAPTURES ANOTHER WORLDKILLER – The DEO captures a second Worldkiller, Purity (guest star Krys Marshall). Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Alex (Chyler Leigh) use very different methods of interrogation with Purity in the hopes of finding out how to defeat Reign (Odette Annable). However, Purity escapes and attacks the city’s subway tunnels. Meanwhile, J’onn (David Harewood), Winn (Jeremy Jordan) and Mon-El (Christopher Wood) band together to fix the Legion ship. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Jessica Queller & Paula Yoo (#313). Original airdate 2/5/2018.

There are a couple of interesting things worth noting about this episode aside from the show itself, with the first being that this episode is effectively the winter finale for the series. At the end of this installment the series will be taking a rather lengthy hiatus. Supergirl season 3 episode 14 is not airing until April so you’re going to have a rather-long stretch of time to digest whatever happens in this episode.

Another note is the episode title “Both Sides Now.” This is a frequently-used title for episodic TV, and it is a reference to a Joni Mitchell song more often than anything else. It’s a pretty soulful, powerful song if you haven’t heard it before — check it out below.
