When is NCIS season 15 returning with new episodes? While there is no new episode coming on the air on Tuesday night, rest assured — there is still another story left to tell in January 2018.
NCIS is returning on Tuesday, January 23 with an all-new episode entitled “Family Ties,” one that will send McGee and Torres out into the field together to track down a high school student who witnessed a hit-and-run accident. What makes things a little bit more unusual from here is that after the teen is tracked down, her parents decide to hit the road with her. NCIS suddenly doesn’t know where she is, and this raises all sorts of additional questions as to what is really going on here.
As for what else you can look forward to within this episode, be prepared for a story with Vance that is going to pack a pretty emotional punch. After all, he has to face a difficult situation after his daughter is arrested for shoplifting. This is a difficult, trying thing for just about any parent to deal with, but we have to imagine that it is even more so when you consider his profession. There will be all sorts of questions raised about parenting and/or whether or not he is fit for his position if he cannot keep his own family from getting into trouble.
Ultimately, CarterMatt does have confidence in Rocky Carroll’s character that he will find a way to figure this out — while also completely schooling anyone who makes assumptions about him. It’s a learning process for Vance, and also a chance for a great performance from Carroll.

At this point, it’s fairly standard-operating procedure for NCIS to go off the air for a week or two in January, largely because there are 24 episodes in a season and producers have to figure out a proper way in order to stretch them out. The hiatuses will just be a little more frequent in the new year because CBS is airing the Winter Olympics this year and that means a little more of a longer hiatus.
