The ten most-popular Arrowverse ‘ships (January 2018) — vote for your favorite!

Supergirl season 2 episode 8

Mrs. Carter: What are the ten most-popular Arrowverse ‘ships moving into the return of some of these shows this week?

That’s a great question, and probably also a divisive one. We know that there are plenty of arguments and debates out there on the subject, mostly because there are SO many different possibilities with there being so many great characters in this universe. (We chose the Crisis on Earth-X photo above because so many of them are in it; it’s as close to a comprehensive image as we’re going to find.)

In coming up with our list of today, CarterMatt only had a few simple goals: Either looking at relationships that are currently happening or ‘ships that are relevant to the show and fandoms. We’re not focusing on ones with dead characters or ones that were popular a few years back and are more or less gone now. (For example, Earth-1 Laurel Lance is dead so there’s no point in talking about Laurel / Oliver. The same goes Sara Lance / Captain Cold.)

At the bottom of this article, there is a poll for you to vote for your own favorite! Vote however often you’d like, and we’ll announce the site favorite on Friday January 19th at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time. (If you are on mobile and can’t see the poll, be sure to click to view the non-AMP version of the page at the bottom.)

Avalance (Sara Lance / Ava Sharpe, Legends of Tomorrow– This is one of the newer ‘ships at the moment in the Arrowverse, but it’s quickly getting a passionate following thanks to their chemistry and their different approaches to the world. It’s still early, but this is the most positive we’ve felt about a Sara ‘ship since Captain Canary back in season 1.

Karamel (Kara Danvers / Mon-El, Supergirl– An extremely popular pairing that really emerged throughout the fall of 2016 and into last spring. Mon-El may be married at the moment to Imra, but we don’t think that it’s stopping anyone from continuing to ‘ship these two together.

MultiVibe (Cisco Ramon / Cynthia a.k.a. Gypsy, The Flash– We know that there are some other ‘ship names out there for these two, but this is one that we like the most. This is also one of our favorite ‘ships just when it comes to humor. While Jessica Camacho is very busy now on Taken, these two characters are always a lot of fun anytime that they get together.

Namaya (Nate Heywood / Amaya Jiwe, Legends of Tomorrow– Are they also called “Steel Vixen”? Sure, they’ve got a couple of different names that they go by, but this actually is the most-prominent relationship between two people aboard the Waverider. While they aren’t together right now, there is still hope that they could be moving forward.

Olicity (Oliver Queen / Felicity Smoak, Arrow– One of the longest-running ‘ships out there, mostly by virtue of the fact that Arrow has been on the air longer than any other show on The CW. Judging from the fact that these two are now married, it’s starting to seem like we’re getting a little bit of stability on this front. They, alongside Diggle and Lyla, are one of the only Arrowverse couples currently raising a kid.

Sanvers (Alex Danvers / Maggie Swayer, Supergirl– Easily one of the most passionate and positive ‘ships out there, the message of Sanvers is one of love and acceptance. That’s why it stings so much that Floriana Lima is not on the show right now. Yet, as we reported over the weekend, a return is still possible at some point.

SnowBarry (Caitlin Snow / Barry Allen, The Flash– Like with another upcoming pairing on this list Barry and Caitlin have never been together romantically; yet, often ‘shipping is about seeing something within characters that appeals to you as a viewer. It’s about finding something to cheer about in the little moments. We certainly know that over the years that has come to happen with SnowBarry and they still have plenty of fans in 2018.

Supercorp (Kara Danvers / Lena Luthro, Supergirl– If you ask many diehard fans of Supergirl, this is a relationship many of them want to see happen. We’re coming off Supercorp winning ‘Ship of the Year at the  CarterMatt Awards and the enthusiasm around this pairing is not dying down in the slightest.

Throy (Rop Harper / Thea Queen, Arrow– Let’s face it – this was never a ‘ship name that quite rolled off the tongue; it also hasn’t existed on Arrow in a while, but with Colton Haynes returning later this season it seems as though there’s a very good chance this ‘ship could soon emerge once again.

WestAllen (Barry Allen / Iris West, The Flash– They’re beloved, passionate, supportive, and so much fun to watch. The relationship between Barry and Iris helps to ground The Flash, which is mostly important since there’s often so much happening around the two of them. The Flash alternates often between comedy and drama; they’re really going to need each other based on what they are up against with Barry’s trial coming on Tuesday’s midseason premiere.

Honorable Mentions / ‘ships we want to see – There’s a part of us rooting for a Mick Rory / Zari ‘ship on Legends of Tomorrow for some reason, even if the idea of Mick with anyone is probably a disaster. Meanwhile we also do like Rene and Thea on Arrow, but that could get washed away with Roy arriving. We have to mention James and Lena on Supergirl, even if we’re not sold on it just yet. We cheer for Lyla and Diggle but there were only so many spots on the list.

Meanwhile, we’d say that Ray Palmer is the guy most in need of a quality ‘ship, mostly because he constantly just ends up in relationships with people who have feelings for someone else.
