Ink Master season 10: Why Josh Payne is considered heavy favorite
What we know about Josh moving into the rest of the season is this: He’s been doing this craft for a long time. Based on an Inked Magazine profile, Josh first started to tattoo when he was just 16 years old and fell in love with it not too long after that. He’s got his own studio now in Ascend Gallery in Cortland, New York, and he uses that space to do a wide array of different tattoos. He’s very art-focused and he has a past Ink Master connected: He’s been tattooed before by season 1 champion Shane O’Neill.
So why could Josh be portrayed as a villain when he doesn’t exactly come across that way outside of the show? That really comes down to two different things.
1. Confidence – Josh is, clearly, a really accomplished artist who feels like he can do almost anything that he puts his mind to. Not everyone is going to like this said confidence, but it makes him an enormous threat to make it all the way to the end of the season. Nothing is going to make him back down and he seems ready to embrace everything that is thrown his way.
2. Being a threat – Let’s face it — when everyone knows you’re really good, they are going to come out to get you. We see Josh being the guy who is constantly given the toughest canvases just to show that he can do some of what he claims that he can. That could create some tension in the shop, especially if he kills it with these tattoo and he gets to throw that back in the various artists’ faces.
Josh is the sort of guy who should be labeled a favorite. He welcomes it, and we don’t see how things are going to change with him being in this position anytime soon. It’s really okay if you love or hate him, since Josh mostly just wants to be the sort of guy who wants you to have some sort of opinion about him.
