Quick Hits: Robert Knepper leaving iZombie after season 4; Lady Dynamite canceled; Cosmos: Possible Worlds ordered

Robert Knepper

We’ve got a few different headlines to get to in today’s edition of CarterMatt’s TV Quick Hits, but let’s begin with a subject that has been discussed rather frequently as of late: Robert Knepper’s future on iZombie.

According to Slash Film, Knepper only has a one-year deal for the CW series and, per Mark Pedowitz, his arc is going to be wrapped up over the course of the coming episodes. His apparent exit at the end of the season is unrelated to accusations of sexual misconduct that have been filed against him the past several weeks. Knepper has denied the allegations, but several women have come forward to share different stories of their past interactions with the actor.

For some, the decision by The CW and Warner Bros. TV to keep Knepper following an internal investigation was controversial. While keeping the actor may have been an easier move for production to make at the time given the timing of the allegations, this could end up being a long and difficult road for the show to get away from it this season.

Lady Dynamite canceled at Netflix – Bad news for many of you out there who love the Maria Bamford comedy series, we come bearing some rather-unfortunate news: It doesn’t appear as though there’s going to be a second season coming up in the near future. Deadline reports that the streaming provider has opted to end the show a couple of months after its second-season premiere. That’s the tough part of being a Netflix show these days — there are so many more options out there for viewers to watch in terms of original programming than there used to be.

Cosmos: Possible Worlds coming – Fox, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and National Geographic are teaming up again for another edition of the documentary series exploring outer space and the far reaches of the galaxy. Check out the first teaser below!
