The Gifted season 2 spoilers: Skyler Samuels close to series-regular promotion

Gifted season 2

Even though The Gifted season 2 doesn’t premiere until this coming fall at the earliest, you don’t have to wait for more good news via Skyler Samuels!

According to TVLine, Samuels (otherwise known for her work on Scream Queens) is close to a promotion that will make her a regular for the second season of the Fox superhero series. Her role is a little bit different than most others, given that she tackles three different characters effectively at the same time! Esme Frost is different from every other character on the show — she’s fascinating, unique, and she could have a really interesting story to tell moving forward.

Even if for some reason Samuels doesn’t end up becoming a series regular for The Gifted, we definitely imagine that we’re still going to be seeing her appear again in the future. It’s too hard for the show to not bring her on board given that she brings so much to the show. Also, The Gifted needs unique mutants. This isn’t X-Men, and as a result of that they don’t get some of the big-name mutants. They have to figure out a way to make the ones that they have truly shine and Esme is just one example of a way in which they can do that.

The Gifted season 2 could premiere as early as September, and as previously reported, don’t anticipate that there is going to be any sort of substantial trouble caused by the recent acquisition of Fox by Disney. While there could be some changes that take place down the road, we’re not at the point just yet where some of these will happen. That’s more of a season 3 discussion, provided that we are lucky enough to get there to begin with.

The season 1 finale of The Gifted is going to air on Fox Monday night. Expect a few more twists and turns; the main thing that this Esme news signifies is that this character is probably not going to be going the way of the dodo at the end of the season.
