A Will & Grace – Shades of Blue crossover is coming with Jennifer Lopez

Will & Grace - Shades of Blue crossover

Out of all of the bizarre TV twists we expected to see in 2018, we have to admit that a Will & GraceShades of Blue crossover is not one of them. Yet, that is exactly just what we’re getting.

On an upcoming episode of Will & Grace this season, we’re going to be seeing Lopez doing something that you don’t often see outside of Hannah Montana: Playing two different roles with a comedy. In addition to taking on the role of herself, she will also be playing the part of Harlee Santos, which she of course plays on the NBC crime series to the best of her ability. We’re hoping that this is going to be a really funny story and that she does a lot of random quick-changes … though it’d also be funny if the show puts the two characters into the same scene so it looks like one of them is also talking to the other.

Second thought: Wouldn’t it be funny if there was some alternate reality where Harlee was actually a pop star in a secret life?

This isn’t the first time that J.Lo has appeared on Will & Grace, as she first did that a number of years ago before the end of the franchise’s original run. The only difference here is that on that previous occasion, she wasn’t doing two roles.

The only real reason we foresee Lopez taking this on now is A) because it’s probably fun and B) it’s going to be a nice bit of cross-promotion for the upcoming Shades of Blue season. More than likely, the new season is going to premiere next month on NBC.
