Jenna Fischer open to doing The Office season 10, if opportunity arises
At the moment, reports are out there that The Office season 10 is being explored over at NBC with a combination of new and old cast members.
Would Jenna Fischer be interested in returning as Pam? Based on all current indications, it certainly seems that way.
Speaking in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter while at TCA (where she was in order to promote her new series Splitting Up Together), Fischer made it clear that she wants to be there, but she also wants most of the writers to sign back up, as well:
“I think the idea of an Office revival is a great idea. I would be honored to come back in any way that I am able to. I loved playing that character and as long as Greg Daniels is the person in charge and the visionary behind it, then I would absolutely be up for it. We just have to get Mindy [Kaling], B.J. Novak, Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, Mike Schur to write some episodes. That show was so great because of the talent involved behind the scenes, not just on the screen.”
Fischer noted that she hadn’t been asked to return, but we have to imagine that she will be if the series makes it far enough in development.
While we do feel fairly confident that this idea could have some laughs in it, we’re still not altogether sold that this is something that anyone out there in the world needs. Let’s just put it this way — the original The Office was a great show, but most of that was due to the cast and the timing. We’re not sure that same humor Michael Scott used back in season 1 still plays in 2018; also, it doesn’t really matter given that Steve Carell is not going to be returning in the first place.
