Could a Scrubs revival movie happen? Zach Braff is totally down

Scrubs revival

Is it really possible that we could see a Scrubs revival movie at some point moving into the near future? In this age of revivals, it’s certainly something that could be a possibility.

If there’s one thing that we do know with confidence right now, it’s this: Zach Braff is definitely open to being Dr. John Dorian for at least a TV movie, something similar to what Psych did recently.

While speaking at the TCA Winter Press Tour today (per TV Guide) promoting his new comedy Alex, Inc., Braff had the following to say about potentially come back for another go of things:

“I don’t think we’d do a traditional TV show thing, but I think we daydream about the idea of doing, like, a TV movie. That’s something that feels more realistic … Because everyone is so all over the place … I don’t think we’d want to do a revival of the show, but I think what’s more realistic and feasible would be to do sort of a — like Psych did a two-hour movie. I think that would be something we could all do. I mean, I would.”

Sarah Chalke, who is promoting another ABC series in the revival of Roseanne, also said that she would be more than down to take part. We do want to imagine that Donald Faison would be equally interested, mostly because of the fact that without Turk, the Guy Love isn’t quite the same. Scrubs was one of our favorite shows ever — it was funny, heartwarming, and creative in a way few other shows were. We actually think of it in some ways as a predecessor to shows like 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation, who also used the single-camera format to great effect.

The one thing we would be worried about with a Scrubs revival is that it would somehow take away from the greatness of the original, mostly because of how amazing the ending of season 8 remains in our mind. Had that actually been the series finale instead of the one we got in season 9, we would largely consider it to be one of the greatest series finales of all time.

We’ll keep our eyes peeled on the possibility of more Scurbs, mostly because if done right, it could be so good there’d be no way at all for Dr. Cox to insult it.
