The Orville season 2 premiere date will be in 2018, after all
So could The Orville season 2 premiere date be? According to star / executive producer Seth MacFarlane, it will be at some point by the end of the year.
MacFarlane confirmed the news in a post on Twitter after reports out of the TCA Winter Press Tour suggested that the season 2 premiere could be coming a little bit later than expected. This caused many to think that the show would be on hold until 2019, but that may not be the case. It may not be ready as early in September as it was this fall, but that’s something to revisit down the line. When you are really just talking about mere weeks as opposed to something far more substantial, the precise day really does not matter anywhere near all that much.
One of the reasons why an extended hiatus for The Orville was so believable was due to the mere fact that this is a show that does have a larger post-production window than the vast majority of other series that are out there. As a result of that, it wouldn’t really have been all that big of a shocker to see us forced to wait a little bit longer in order to see some of what could transpire on the show itself.
Now, the next thing that The Orville needs to hope for is that the hiatus ends up bringing more benefits to the show by way of word of mouth. The more that there are viewers discussing the series and spreading the word about it, the better off it’s going to be on the other side. One of the things that we did learn about The Orville this year is that critical reception doesn’t necessarily equal fan reaction in the slightest.
