Floribama Shore renewed for season 2 leading up to season 1 finale airing

Floribama SHore renewed

Just in case you were really worried for whatever the future was going to hold for MTV’s Floribama Shore, know this: It’s going to be coming back not too long after tonight’s finale airs.

Floribama Shore season 2 has been officially ordered by MTV, with new episodes coming your way at some point later this summer. What’s even more surprising is that the network has ordered a whopping 20 episodes more of the series!

Earlier this year, Floribama Shore launched with the goal of being the perfect Jersey Shore follow-up, a series set in the Panama City, Florida area featuring a diverse group of people from the region. While it’s had plenty of obnoxious and/or silly moments, we do think that the casting has been pretty strong. These aren’t so much stereotypes; some of these people have been through a lot despite being fairly young, and it’s easy to get attached to their stories. Sure, going to the beach and out to various nightclubs is a way for them to have a good time, but for some of them they’re looking at this experience almost as a social renaissance, or a chance to establish themselves or change their identity somewhat from the person that they’ve been. There is a deeper layer for this show depending on how you choose to watch it.

We should note that even with this Floribama Shore season 2 renewal confirmed there is no 100% confirmation that the entire season 1 cast will return. One of the things that made the original Jersey Shore so appealing was that the original cast, other than Angelina, stuck around for the bulk of the series.

Ratings-wise, this show was a hit from almost the start, with it generating some of the best series premiere numbers for MTV in years. As for why they opted to air a new episode on Christmas Day … that’s still something we’re trying to figure out.

Are you happy to see Floribama Shore renewed, or did you really think that the universe would’ve been totally fine without it? Be sure to share in the comments!
