Blue Bloods season 8 episode 12 preview: Could Nicky become a cop?

Blue Bloods season 8

When Blue Bloods season 8 episode 12 comes on CBS next week, there will be many questions — aren’t there always with this show? What does make this episode stand out more from the field is that at the center of it is Nicky Reagan-Boyle – a character who doesn’t always get the most of screen time, but could be gearing up for some life-changing decisions. She has to figure out what she wants her future to be, and she is at least considering having it be with the NYPD.

CarterMatt has the Blue Bloods season 8 episode 12 synopsis for you below, and we like to think that this does offer up a little bit more in the way of insight into what’s ahead:

“The Brave” – After Anthony is shot while interviewing a witness for an upcoming murder trial, Erin enlists Anthony’s archenemy, Danny, to find out who was responsible. Also, Jamie and Eddie get in the middle of a standoff between a police lieutenant and a developmentally disabled man posing as an officer, and Nicky prepares to take the police exam, on BLUE BLOODS, Friday, Jan. 12 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Clearly, “The Brave” is more than just the name of a military series on CBS featuring Mike Vogel. There’s a lot going on in this episode, and while we think that the Nicky storyline could be the one with the greatest long-term arcs for the show, there are also some big ones with Anthony and Jamie / Eddie. The latter are going to be tackling something that is a critical part of the world today — mental illness. It needs to be addressed rather than swept under the rug and forgotten about.

This coming week is actually poised to be a big one for CBS, given that you have this storyline coming for Jamie and Eddie following an episode of Hawaii Five-0 that is going to tackle suicide and an especially dark time in Grover’s life. There’s going to be a lot to unpack, but it could make for some very great content.
