Sneaky Pete season 2 expectations were just taken up a notch; how so?

Sneaky Pete -

Just in case you were curious how much stake Amazon has in Sneaky Pete season 2, some of the just-released numbers show precisely how big of a hit the series is already.

Apparently, Sneaky Pete season 1 was one of the five most-watched seasons of any Amazon original show for the calendar year 2017, joining the likes of The Grand Tour, The Man in the High Castle (seasons 1 and 2), and The Tick. That’s a very impressive finish for a great show that, somehow, didn’t feel like it got much of the press that it really should have for the first batch of episodes. It delivered on some really entertaining stories, and also offered up the perfect mixture of action, drama, and snark. It’s reminiscent of many of the great crime-related shows we love like White Collar and Good Behavior.

This news comes in as Sneaky Pete season 2 gears up for its premiere a little bit later this year. This season comes of course with greater expectations now that we’ve seen the show pull off a great first season. Beyond that, it also needs to defend its title! There will be even more competition coming to Amazon — many of the shows we mentioned earlier will be back, and then you’ve also got some other hits-in-the-making including Absentia starring Stana Katic. One of the shows that could really unseat everyone at the top of the list is Amazon’s upcoming show in the Lord of the Rings universe, but that doesn’t seem to be imminent. As a matter of fact, CarterMatt would be rather shocked if that show comes out at all between now and mid-to-late 2019. It could be even later than that.

Given that we don’t feel like the Sneaky Pete season 2 premiere date is going to be that far in the future, hopefully the fine folks at Amazon are going to hand down some more news soon.
