Who’s getting suspended on Chicago Med? The candidates

Chicago Med season 3 premiere

If you saw the promo tonight for next week’s Chicago Med episode, you know one thing: Trouble is befalling someone at the hospital. By the end of the episode, it appears as though someone is going to be suspended!

Obviously, we don’t want to see that happen to anyone, but reality in this case is reality and it looks like someone is going to become an unfortunate victim of whatever happens. With that, we have to do our best to figure out who that someone is going to be.

The promo shows six different possibilities, which makes sense given that there are six main doctors in the cast: Will Halstead, Natalie Manning, Ethan Choi, Daniel Charles, Sarah Reese, and Connor Rhodes. (Technically, there are some others, but these are the six we tend to follow the most.)

If we were to look at all of them individually as candidates for suspension, based at least on their past actions, it would go a little bit like this.

Choi – He tends to be a little bit rebellious here and there, but for the most part his military training makes him by the book. It’s hard to see it being him.

Charles – It could be Daniel. In some ways he is the greatest utilitarian at the hospital — he tries to do things that produce the most overall good. He’d probably be willing to take a suspension in the event that it helps others.

Manning – We could envision it being her just because she was willing to break the rules just a couple of episodes ago. If she relates to a patient enough, that could be enough to cause her to break the rules in order to help them.

Rhodes – We could see it happen, but we haven’t seen him interact with too many patients outside of surgery as of late. Seems unlikely.

Halstead – Will and Natalie are very similar insofar as doctors go. He’s a leading candidate just because we feel like if he and Natalie were involved in some rule-breaking together, he could take the fall for her.

Reese – Based on the end of tonight’s episode with her going out and buying pepper spray, coupled with some of the details teased in the recent NBC synopsis for next week, she’s easily the top candidate to be in danger. She’s struggling and has been ever since Jack Kellogg died. To make matters worse, she is not talking about it with anyone and is just internalizing it and thinking that her profession enables her to properly understand herself.
