Chicago Med season 3 episode 6 preview: Is Dr. Reese spiraling?

Philip Winchester

Going into Chicago Med season 3 episode 6 airing on NBC January 9, it’s certainly clear that Dr. Sarah Reese is in a difficult spot. At the end of Tuesday night’s new episode she made the decision to go out and try to purchase a firearm — she wasn’t properly licensed, so she left with pepper spray instead. On the other side of getting this, there are already some signs in which she could be getting closer to using it. It’s not something that she necessarily wants to do, but her paranoia is putting her into a place where she may think that she needs it when the reality is something other than that.

The Chicago Med season 3 episode 6 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below offers you a little more insight into what happens with her, to go along with a wide array of other stories:

NATALIE IS TASKED WITH SHARING SURPRISING NEWS TO A PATIENT WHILE GOODWIN AND MAGGIE HATCH A PLAN – Ethan (Brian Tee) attempts to diagnose a man with no symptoms while Sarah’s (Rachel DiPillo) paranoia goes to the extreme when she uses pepper spray on an aggressive patient. Will (Nick Gehlfuss) treats a young couple willing to sacrifice anything in order to have a baby. Meanwhile, Natalie (Torrey DeVitto) must inform a woman that she was sterilized as a young girl without knowledge, and Goodwin (S. Eptha Merkerson) and Maggie (Marlyne Barret) devise a way to persuade paramedics to bring in more patients. Oliver Platt, Yaya DaCosta, Colin Donnell and Norma Kuhling also star. Eddie Jemison and Roland Buck III guest star.

The storyline for Goodwin and Maggie is interesting mostly in that you don’t often see stories that are about doctors and nurses wanting more patients, but this probably speaks both to the hospital as a business and then also the innate desire to help people that is at the center of the hospital. Of course these characters do want to do everything that they can in order to treat as many people as possible.

The story for Dr. Reese intrigues us the most because you’re talking about a story where the consequences could be severe — and she could be out of a job if she’s found to be especially negligent.
