New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2018: Camila Cabello performs ‘Havana’

Mariah Carey

Camila Cabello was one of the performers taking the stage on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2018, and we knew in advance that this was going to be a very memorable performance. She’s someone who over the past couple of years has really burst onto the stage more than ever before, largely because of hits like “Crying in the Club” and her new song “Havana,” which she performed in front of a live audience in New York City.

The first thing we have to do is give Camila some serious credit just for going out there and braving some of those temperatures! She didn’t have the luxury of filming in Los Angeles in advance like some other performers did this year, but that’s a testament to her growth as an artist. If there wasn’t a whole lot of love out there for her as a performer, nobody would have ever hired her to be live in Times Square.

What’s interesting is that this is, in one way or another, the second straight year in which Cabello has been a part of a New Year’s Rockin’ Eve broadcast. Last year, she performed alongside Fifth Harmony. (The show filmed prior to her split from the band.)

We imagine that there’s going to be plenty more in the way of new music from Cabello in 2018 as she works to become even more of a prominent solo artist. We know that she had some successes in 2017 and at just 20 years old, she’s young enough that she can still do many things that should surprise fans out there. (We still remember covering her on The X Factor years ago when she was starting out and dreaming of a career in the music industry.)
