Are you ready for Doctor Who in 2018? New video takes down the Tardis

Doctor Who

Are you ready for Doctor Who to premiere in 2018? Unfortunately, you’re going to be waiting for a rather long while for new episodes. Jodie Whittaker isn’t going to be coming on board with season 11 until near close to the end of the year, and the video that we have for you below is a way to perfectly transition from the end of one era to the beginning of something new and, hopefully, something exciting.

This video comes courtesy of the show’s official Twitter account, and it gives you a time-lapse of the Tardis control room set being taken down. This marks the end of a really significant era of the show, one where the Tardis was largely the same for the entire time of Peter Capaldi’s tenure as The Doctor. One door is officially closed, and as a result of that we now have a chance to sit around and wait for the next door to open.

Come 2018, there is going to be a new Doctor and beyond that, we’re also going to have a chance to see a new Tardis and a new set. A big part of what makes the show so fresh is the overall aesthetic. You don’t ever see the same thing on more than one occasion and that’s exciting. The Tardis is a reflection of a Doctor’s personality; you get a chance to live in their world a little bit and see how they choose to interpret one of the things that is the most intimate about them.

If we are lucky, the BBC will release some sort of small teaser regarding the new Tardis around the summer or early fall — they have no explicit reason to do so, but we feel like we’re going to come to a certain point where the network opts to release something in fear of someone else spoiling it ahead of them. This is a network that, understandably, wants to do whatever it can in order to control the narrative.
