CarterMatt Awards 2017: Reactions from Sam Heughan, Tony Denison, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and other winners
Throughout the month of December, we’ve had a chance to celebrate all things TV with our sixth annual CarterMatt Awards. It’s been a really fun edition this year with hundreds of thousands of votes, a ton of lively debates, and some positive campaigns that have stretched out all over social media.
One of the things that’s made us the happiest about conducting the awards this year is reading some of the stories from the fan communities who worked hard to get their favorites (metaphorical) trophies in the end — while we may have been responsible for the nominations, the real credit for the victories has to go out to all of the fans who devoted hours to voting and supporting some of their favorites.
For this article, what we wanted to do is share a few of the reactions from some of the winners for those of you out there who voted for them and missed what they had to say. Since we don’t have a proper awards ceremony, consider some of these your acceptance speeches, if you will.
To go along with these reactions, we’ve attached links to some of the results articles if you want to read more about the categories and why these performers are so worthy of your love.
Tony Denison, Major Crimes (Underrated Actor)
Alycia Debnam-Carey, Fear the Walking Dead (Underrated Actress)
Sam Heughan, Outlander (Top Actor)
For those curious, Heughan’s reaction was also shared by the official Outlander account.
Caitriona Balfe, Outlander (Top Actress)
Sophie Skelton, Outlander (Breakout Star)
Ika Wong, Big Brother Canada (Reality Star)
We also want to share a message from Sarah Rafferty of Suits, who placed second in Top Actress voting after a really close showdown with Caitriona Balfe. Percentage-wise this remains one of the closest votes in CarterMatt Awards history.
Remember that there is one more CarterMatt Awards result coming tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. Eastern, and that’s for Show of the Year. If you want to cast a vote for one of your favorites there, we suggest that you head over to the link here and do so!
Let’s come full-circle now and wrap up this article with how we started — by thanking all of you for voting, sharing the polls, and making the CarterMatt Awards so much fun this year. We’re already thinking of ways to make it great in 2018! Hopefully, you stick with us and check out all of the TV coverage we have for you on all of your favorites. Want to get easy updates?
