Who is Cord Hosenbeck, Tish Cattigan? Hosts of 2018 Rose Parade on Amazon

Rose Parade

If you saw Cord Hosenbeck and Tish Cattigan a few weeks ago on Jimmy Kimmel Live, you might have done a double take. The two characters are making their national (or international) debut. They are the hosts on Amazon Prime with live coverage of the 2018 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. However, are Tish Cattigan and Cord Hosenbeck real people? Or are they talented celebrities with alter egos?

Wait! Before you suggest they look vaguely familiar, we’d like to point out that the rumors that these individuals could be Saturday Night Live alums Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon haven’t been denied. Nor, technically, can they be confirmed. Interestingly enough Cord and Tish are always in character when on TV (and doing interviews) so  there might be someone else behind the makeup, but nobody is saying for sure. Welcome to the new world of TV host personalities. This is where the guessing begins. Yep, alter egos of talented individuals are being introduced to the world. Welcomed into our homes as TV hosts.

Take a look at the video below for more from Cord and Tish.

America has Tommy Maitland in part to thank for this new idea of character TV host personalities. You might remember him earlier in 2017 as he was the host of The Gong Show over the summer. People turned in to see the strange acts, but even more to figure out if Tommy was actually Mike Meyers in disguise. Billed as a legendary British host, never once did the actor break character of his alter ego leaving fans surprised and amused with his time on stage.

Frankly, Cord Hosenbeck and Tish Cattigan are drawing in viewers just by their on-air characters. With an elaborate pedigree of accomplishments, the two are seamlessly perfect for the hosting duties. Add that both hosts know how to fill in dead air with all their previous gigs and the viewers of Amazon’s coverage are in for a special treat.

If you ask any Pasadena locals, they might suggest that Cord and Tish are loosely modeled after Stephanie Edwards and Bob Eubanks who hosted the parade on KTLA for over 30 years. Offering up back-and-forth banter, Eubanks and Edwards had people tuning in just to hear what they had to say. They offered facts about the parade as well as entertaining talk about their lives between floats. Retiring not too long ago, the next set of perfect Rose Parade hosts haven’t been found. Maybe that’s where Cord and Tish can step in and bring entertainment as they take on the hosting of the 2018 Rose parade.

2018 Rose Parade on Amazon Prime offers up something new

One thing is for sure. There will be more hosting characters coming in 2018. If Tommy, Tish and Cord prove anything, it’s that TV viewers love to see talented entertainers bring a whole new character to life. Add that the alter egos refuse to break character for any reason and will respond on the fly. It’s one of those fascinating things that keep viewers watching until the end of the show! With so many talented celebrities looking to try something new, expect 2018  to be ripe with hosting characters. Or should I say actors who are willing to offer up an alter ego on live TV?

Stream the 2018 Rose Parade with hosts Cord Hosenbeck and Tish Cattigan live on Amazon Prime. And be ready for anything to happen on this live broadcast because there is no doubt it will…
