Doctor Who season 11 premiere date hopes for Jodie Whittaker, cast

Want to see the Doctor Who season 11 premiere date in the wake of the Christmas Special tonight on BBC One? Well, rest assured that you are in the right spot!

Following tonight’s episode (which also airs later on BBC America), there will of course be a hiatus — an understandable one really, when you consider the fact that it’s been so long since we’ve got a showrunner change (Chris Chibnall after years of Steven Moffat) plus also a new Doctor. Jodie Whittaker is in, and as a result of that Peter Capaldi is taking his last bow.

All things considered, the Doctor Who hiatus coming up could be far worse than it is. Think about things in this sense — in the past, we’ve been forced to wait upwards of a year between seasons. All things considered, it’s therefore not all that terrible that we’re forced to wait until fall 2018 in order to see the start of the season proper with Whittaker as the lead. It feels like the BBC smartly planned things out to the best of their ability so that the hiatus isn’t anywhere near as long as it otherwise could have been.

There are a few different things known about the upcoming Doctor Who season at present — namely, that there is a new cast at work and of course Chibnall is working to make this the best, most innovative season in years. There will be fewer episodes in season 11 than in years past, but as a means of making up for that the episodes will run longer. Ultimately, you’ll be getting around the same amount of season, but it will be presented in a slightly different but still-interesting manner.

The big thing to know in the midst of all of the change and getting Jodie Whittaker on board is rather clear — Doctor Who is still Doctor Who. While there are some tremendous changes coming, we don’t necessarily think that they are going to alter the entire fabric of the series in some dramatic way. It’s just another fun evolution.
