Who won The Great American Baking Show season 3? ABC’s announcement
The winner of this season was Vallery Lomas, who chose to take the moment of her announcement to speak out against Iuzzini for not only what he allegedly did during his time in the restaurant industry, but also his impact on the show:
“Unfortunately because of the actions of Johnny Iuzzini, we are not able to broadcast the show as was originally planned … I have experienced harassment, disrespectful comments and the pain those comments and actions can cause … The actions of Johnny, not only have they hurt the women who were in the kitchen with him, but it has spread to the other contestants, the cast and crew, and myself, his actions have caused us harm as well by not allowing us to share our love of baking with all of you.”
We know that there were some Great American Baking Show fans out there who were upset about the decision to pull the remaining episodes, but how could they keep the show on the air when Iuzzini was such a big part of it? The message that sends is that the network isn’t taking the nature of the allegations seriously and ABC is a family-friendly network owned by Disney. The situation is just unfortunate since Lomas was robbed of what should’ve been a really great opportunity for her to show off her abilities. We hope that some point down the road she does have an opportunity to share more of her creations and participate in the series in some way — The Great American Baking Show has not been canceled by any means. More than likely it will get a chance to move forward with a different judging panel. Iuzzini was not the reason for the success of the series; that can be contributed instead to all of the hard-working bakers who took part.
