The latest Vikings season 5, Knightfall season 1 ratings

Vikings season 5

Want to know the latest Vikings season 5 and Knightfall season 1 ratings? CarterMatt has those for you here, and also a good bit of optimism regarding the future for both shows.

When it comes to Vikings season 5, the good news is that this is a series that just keeps continuing to roll forward. The numbers remain just as good as they have been most of the season and you have to feel really great about the year-to-year retention. Wednesday night’s new episode drew a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and beyond that also 2.1 million viewers. These numbers were an improvement on the December 13 episode and prove more that this is a series that, (even during the holidays) is more than capable of drawing a really good audience for itself. There aren’t many shows that can do that and because of that we have to assume that this is one of the many reasons why History is happy that this is show that they can plug in almost anywhere and fans will tune in to watch.

As you may know there is already a season 6 renewal for Vikings so we can go ahead and rejoice in getting new episodes of this show until at least 2019. As for beyond that, that could very well be a decision made by the likes of Michael Hirst and the show’s cast and crew. History is probably going to want it for however long it wants.

As for Knightfall… This is the show we had a little more curiosity around given that this is it’s first season and doesn’t have an established audience. It does have Vikings as a lead-in and we’re still confident that its numbers are going to only improve as more people discover it after the fact. We are in an era where streaming helps cable shows significantly!

Wednesday night’s new episode generated a 0.3 rating and almost 1.5 million viewers. It’s keeping around 75% of the total viewership of Vikings and we do think that this is very good. We’re not sure if these numbers plus DVR ratings will be enough to guarantee the show a second season, but there’s a cause for optimism here. The biggest issue Knightfall faces is that there are already plenty of other shows out there that explore the medieval period. One specifically about Vikings and their history is a little more unique which is one of the many reasons people tune in.
