New X-Files season 11 video: Mulder – Scully romance galore
In the video below, you can see a lot of teases surrounding what is going to be coming up — along with some fun behind-the-scenes teases, as well. (There’s nothing better than seeing Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny laugh and have some fun after some various takes.) The relationship between these characters has seen a wide range of highs and lows. They’ve been partners, they’ve been lovers, and they have a chance now to get William back, the child they once lost so many years ago. This video gives you a small sense of that (among some other events) that are going to unfold. Let’s just say that Mulder and Scully are snuggling again and there’s hope for a romantic future once more.
One of the reasons as to why this particular ‘ship is so popular likely stems from the fact that The X-Files really doesn’t go out of their way to milk it. They show restraint in how much the writers choose to highlight the relationship and keep things largely about the case of the week or the central mythology. This is in turn one of the reasons why the show has lasted this long — it’s perfect to pop in for an episode, even if you’ve missed the one before. This is likely also why shows like NCIS and Law & Order: SVU have also stuck around for so long.
The Mulder – Scully romance is really just the tip of the iceberg for this new preview, which is one of the longest ones put out by Fox to date. This preview also gives you a little more footage of the Cigarette Smoking Man, one of the show’s most noteworthy characters and someone who will have a few more surprises up his sleeve. The same even goes for Skinner, another character who’s been around the series for quite some time who is certainly mired in some moral ambiguity.
The X-Files season 11 returns to Fox on Wednesday, January 3 at 8:00 p.m. — the truth will be out there once more pretty soon.
