Survivor: Ghost Island season 36 title; possible theme and more
This is a season seemingly themed around things coming back to bite you — Jeff Probst referenced that early on in the reunion show when he referenced what happened with Lauren during Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers. It’s a different sort of season than we’ve seen on the show before.
We’re all familiar with shows with returning players — but what’s so interesting about Ghost Island is that it’s all about returning twists. (All of the people coming back this time around are newbies.) The mistakes of past castaways will loom large for some of the players taking part this time and and it’s pretty darn easy to feel that this should be interesting. How many other seasons are there that embrace the past and celebrate it like this one is?
In truth, we just love Survivor: Ghost Island in part because it’s one of the most-awesome names that we’ve seen for the CBS show to date. Beyond that, it’s the show recognizing a need to mix things up after being in the same location in Fiji for so long. If they can’t brand the show based on location, they have to think of something new.
(For those curious, we feel like familiarity is one of the reasons production likes going back to Fiji — it’s a good location visually and they likely have resources that make filming there pretty great for the crew.)
