The Walking Dead season 8: Chandler Riggs’ new haircut seals his exit
In a new post on Twitter (see below), Riggs is showing off his brand-new style after many years of playing Carl Grimes on the AMC drama series. We feel like as a result of that role he was relegated to keeping the long locks; now, he can show off a new look and act in some very different sort of roles than what he did as Carl.
We’ll be honest here for a second — if we were Chandler, we would’ve seriously considered not showing anyone the haircut and living a couple of months completely incognito. It’s funny, but how many people do you think would’ve recognized him wandering around in short hair? Also, he’s spending more time in Los Angeles and given how many people are out there looking for recognizable stars he could’ve slipped under the radar. Good luck with that now.
Riggs still has one more episode of The Walking Dead left in the tank, one where Carl Grimes will officially pass away — while also passing on whatever information he can to his father about how to best live his life. This is a very different storyline than the one from the comics and it also is one of the most controversial — as a result of this decision there are tens of thousands of people out there calling for showrunner Scott Gimple to be fired. Just see the petition here if you don’t believe it. We’re not for having someone lose their job; do you know what the best revenge for Riggs is instead? Give an Emmy-worthy performance in the final episode and then land some huge jobs elsewhere. (“Revenge” may be a strong word — really, it’s just a reminder to The Walking Dead that they let a future star go before they had to. Riggs was willing to stick around for at least the next couple of years.)
