The first thing you should know is that Lucas Till and company are done airing new episodes for 2017 after tonight. That’s it! While it is certainly sad, everyone deserves a break and this cast and crew have earned it for almost a dozen fast-paced, fun, and at times emotional episodes. Episode 2×10, for example, may be the best performance of Till’s since first joining the show.

As for what is going to be coming up when MacGyver returns on Friday, January 5, we have all sorts of fun details. CarterMatt has the full MacGyver season 2 episode 12 synopsis below:

“Mac + Jack” – When Mac and Jack are trapped inside Mac’s house, which his nemesis, The Ghost, has rigged with explosives, Mac uses a karaoke mic and an audio transformer to let the team know that this bomb is a distraction for a bigger one. Also, through flashbacks, Mac and Jack’s contentious first meeting unfolds, on MACGYVER, Friday, Jan. 5 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

There are two different things about this episode that are exciting to us:

1. The opportunity to tell a story within Mac’s house – We think that some of the best episodes of MacGyver are the ones where the team is confined to a really small space. Think in terms of episode 2×10 when Mac worked almost entirely in the Phoenix Foundation. This story is great since it’s both personal to Mac and it’s kind of like his own home base. You have to think that a guy like him is going to have all sorts of fun personal stuff lying around for him to use to save his life.

2. Flashbacks – The story of how Mac met Jack should be a fun one, and it’s a necessary one to tell at some point given that the pilot picked up with the two already working together. This is a way to get a story that is exciting in the present, but also one that is important in the past. It gives you the full picture of who some of these people are.
