Supergirl season 3 spoilers: Who is Julia Freeman? A look at latest casting
According to a new report from TVLine, Krys Marshall (This Is Us) has been cast in the upcoming role of the aforementioned character. She is described as a musician living outside National City, and as it turns out she has some sort of information regarding Reign’s true identity. As for what this information is, that remains to be seen. Can’t people figure something out eventually when they realize that Reign has similar facial features to Samantha Arias — or that Sam is never around at the same time that Reign is? There could be a larger purpose Julia has beyond this, but we’ll just have to wait and see what it is.
For now, what we know is that Kara Danvers is going to need as much help as humanly possible in order to defeat Reign given that she’s one of the most formidable opponents the series has seen to date. She’s already defeated Kara once, and that was when she was still in the process of getting her bearings around National City. The longer she remains, the more difficult it’s going to be in order to defeat her. She’s someone brought up with the explicit purpose of trying to destroy worlds — that’s some difficult armor to break down.
If there is a way to defeat Reign without excess violence, though, it is trying to figure out a way to break through and see if Samantha still has any control underneath the surface. If Kara and company can figure out who Reign really is, maybe they can use that to get through to her. The real danger here comes via Ruby — if anyone could get through to Samantha and help her to overtake Reign, it’s more than likely going to be her daughter. Yet, putting Ruby in front of Reign is a risky plan and it may not be worth it — there’s no guarantee Reign/Samantha works like this, and we certainly don’t think that Supergirl is a dark enough show to murder a young girl and a complete innocent.
