The Good Doctor winter finale makes Claire victim of sexual harassment
On The Good Doctor winter finale on ABC Monday night, we saw Claire become the victim of a terrible epidemic — sexual harassment.
The storyline unfolded in a way that many situations do in real life. Claire found herself in a position where a male doctor, (and a higher-up on the food chain) named Dr. Coyle started to get overly friendly with her. Then, he started to get handsy. After that, he tried to ask her out and when she refused, he tried to lash out and claim that she was sending him “mixed signals.” Far from the truth.
In the aftermath of these events, Claire struggled at first to get support — Jared tried at first thought that she was possibly overthinking or misreading signals. He didn’t realize until later just how severe the situation was, and after that he confronted Coyle about it and got physical with him in the locker room.
After being encouraged by a patient who heard the entire conflict we saw Claire pay a visit to human resources, only to unfortunately learn that someone had beaten her to the punch. Dr. Coyle had already reported her to HR as a horrible preemptive strike. Knowing that he had overstepped and been found out, clearly this was him trying to cover his own butt. This became a he-said / she-said situation, and that’s a pretty awful situation for a young doctor like her to be in given that she knew the hospital would often side with the superior.
What transpired here was something that even we did not expect: Jared was the one who was reprimanded and fired for getting into an altercation with another doctor. For now, it appears that nothing has happened with either Coyle or Claire.
Is Chukuma Modu leaving the show? We doubt that, but we’ll see what happens in the new year when the show returns.

Freddie Highmore delivered another stellar performance as Dr. Glassman tried to force Shaun into therapy — this led to the two parties having a blowup and Shaun unraveling in the lobby of the hospital. He struck Glassman in the midst of the escalating situation and stormed out of the room.
