The Gifted episode 10 (fall finale) spoilers: Is a cliffhanger coming?

The Gifted episode 10 is more than just your standard episode for the show; this is the fall finale, and with that there’s a holiday hiatus coming. The writers have to find a way to pay off some of the storylines from the first half of this season while also cultivating what could be some big stories coming up when the show returns in January. You want to pay off some stories, but not so much that you’re starting from scratch in episode 11. It’s a juggling act but so far they’ve shown that they can handle this sort of thing without too much trouble. They know that they’ve got some diehard fans that they want to please; expectations are high, but that’s a good thing.

Below, CarterMatt has for you The Gifted episode 10 synopsis — let’s just say that this sets up some stories that easily could carry over to the new year:

At a moral crossroads, Jace is forced to hand over something valuable to Dr. Campbell. The team at Mutant HQ is divided on what they should do next, so Reed and Caitlin take matters into their own hands in the all-new “eXploited” fall finale episode of THE GIFTED airing Monday, Dec. 11 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

We want to believe that Reed and Caitlin taking charge is a good move, and in some ways it probably is. Yet, it’s also very much a dangerous move given that they are prone to thinking recklessly. They are thinking about their own family, and sometimes with subject matter so close you can’t see the forest through the trees. We would not be surprised at all if Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker are at the center of some sort of big cliffhanger, one that leaves open many questions to be answered in the final episodes of the season.

That is the bad news: There are only a few more episodes in season 1. This was always designed to be a 13-episode show. It has a chance to come back for a season 2, but given that Fox has so many shows that haven’t even aired yet we may not learn this show’s renewal status until April or May.
