The Good Doctor episode 11 return date: When should Freddie Highmore, cast return?
Unfortunately, for the time being this is all they are: Possibilities. The network hasn’t 100% confirmed as yet when the medical drama is going to be back. Maybe that changes after the winter finale (we’ll have an update if it does), but for now they’re keeping things hush-hush on the Freddie Highmore series and its return date.
There are some good reasons why the network would want to bring The Good Doctor episode 11 back on the air in early January, starting with the lead-in: The Bachelor is often ABC’s highest-rated show in the 18-49 demographic, and pairing up The Good Doctor with that means effectively that it could cash in some of those numbers. It wouldn’t be a bad thing to get some more ratings momentum going leading into a likely season 2, just like it wouldn’t be a bad thing to not have viewers waiting all that long to dive back into some new stories.
Unfortunately, there is also a reason to think that The Good Doctor episode 11 return date may not come until March: The Winter Olympics. With ABC’s schedule entering a state of flux thanks to NBC’s broadcast of the Games, they may opt to wait to give us new episodes of The Good Doctor until they can air the remaining nine episodes of the season in succession. They can do that by bringing the show back in March, and odds are they’ll still be able to cash in on some of The Bachelor lead in. With the way that ABC seems to be scheduling things out this year, they’ll be giving The Bachelor a hiatus during the Games (Bachelor Winter Games will likely air during that time) and start Dancing with the Stars later in the year than they typically do.
As you can tell, there’s a lot of things to think about here if you’re an ABC executive — we just hope that they are clear with The Good Doctor episode 11 return date sooner rather than later.
