The Blacklist season 5: Lotte Verbeek open to Katarina Rostova return
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in a new interview about a possible Blacklist return, Verbeek (who had a notable and fantastic appearance on Outlander this week) made it clear that she is open to coming back:
“So far all my episodes on The Blacklist have been flashbacks. So, you could argue that she’s never been alive in present time. So, who knows? I really enjoyed working on that show.”
At this point, it feels almost imperative to bring Verbeek back in the future given that the show has explored so many other aspects and Liz and Reddington’s history; yet, this is still floating around out there. With the death of Tom there is also another void in the show that needs to be filled, and taking some of that screen time and bringing in a little more of Liz’s family history will be welcome.
The Blacklist season 5 will return to NBC on Wednesday, January 3 — what is curious about the show’s return to NBC is that the first episode has been confirmed at something similar to “Cape May.” That was the first episode in which Verbeek appeared as Katarina. (For the record, we have a hard time imagining that Lotte’s return will be spoiled in advance — when she comes back, odds are it’ll be a surprise.)
