The stakes of Chicago Med season 3 episode 3 for Connor, Ava
Through the first two episodes of this season, we’ve started to get a good sense of the multiple different stresses that are weighing on him. The first one is rather clear: The stress that he is going through with his girlfriend Robyn Charles. He loves her, but she is continuing to struggle when it comes to her condition. He’s trying to take care of her at home and then trying to take care of patients at work.
To make matters worse, there is the presence of his new rival Dr. Ava Bekker. She is ambitious, and we do think that more often than not a little bit of ambition goes a long way. However, there are also times when ambition can end up swinging in the opposite direction — you can get too ambitious to the point that it starts to have an adverse effect on those around you. You focus too much on the end goal that you lose sight of little things here and there along the way.
Judging from the new Chicago Med season 3 episode 3 promo below, this is what we could be seeing Dr. Connor Rhodes struggling with. He seems so focused on the idea of proving that he is a better doctor than Ava that, in return, he is sabotaging himself. He is so competitive that he’s focusing more on beating her on being right with diagnoses and treatments. He’s not focusing on the patients anymore.
If you love great performances from Colin Donnell, Tuesday night’s new episode should be a treat for you. In general, the past week’s been a good one for the actor — we saw the continuation of his and Ava’s storyline on Chicago Med, and then we also had a chance to see him make a surprise cameo during the Crisis on Earth-X crossover over on Arrow, where he played the part of an alternate-universe version of the villain Prometheus. To call that heartbreaking would be an understatement.
