When Chicago Med season 3 episode 3 airs on NBC next week, be prepared to see a different side of the hospital. As a matter of fact, be prepared to see a hospital that pushes the doctors to the limits. Unfortunately, hospitals are the sort of institution that have to be business-focused – They’re not charities. They need to turn profits and when that doesn’t happen, things can get hairy. This is the dilemma Goodwin finds herself in, where she may have to compromise medicine for the sake of making the hospital profitable. It’s a tough situation for her to be in, but it comes along with the job description.
The Chicago Med season 3 episode 3 synopsis CarterMatt has for you below gives you more of a sense as to what’s coming beyond just the Goodwin story:
12/05/2017 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Tuesday) : PRESSURE FROM THE HOSPITAL BOARD FORCES GOODWIN TO MAKE CHANGES AT MED – When Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) receives financial complaints from the hospital board, she is forced to implement new guidelines that cause headaches for the doctors. Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) and Ava (Norma Kuhling) continue to compete in the operating room, while Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) and Dr. Reese (Rachel DiPillo) are surprised when they treat a man who has a peculiar theory about his sickness. Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and Dr. Choi (Brain Tee) can’t figure out what is wrong with a young girl, leading them to look to a questionable source for answers. Marlyne Barrett, Yaya DaCosta and Nick Gehlfuss also star. Ato Essandoh, Eddie Jemison and Roland Buck III guest star.
Obviously, there are quite a few different big events coming in this story, and the thing we’re the most interested in seeing right now is whether or not there is a way for Dr. Rhodes and Ava to ever get on the same page. The more that these two characters are at odds, the more we start to worry that sooner or later they’ll end up destroying their own careers.
