Law & Order: SVU season 19 fall finale cliffhanger teased
In speaking on this subject to Entertainment Weekly showrunner Michael Chernuchin notes that the final episode of the season is ending with a “huge cliffhanger with Sheila … Something dreadful happens to Noah. Put it this way: The run ends with Olivia and Sheila in a cabin alone.”
With a cliffhanger like that we know that viewers are going to be anxious to find out how it all wraps up. Unfortunately, you’re going to be stuck waiting for a good month, (give or take) to learn what happens next.
The storyline revolving around Olivia and Sheila has been many weeks in the making, and it started when Brooke Shields first came on the scene as Noah’s biological grandmother. There were fears that she was going to fight Benson for custody, and while that hasn’t quite happened, she is in Noah’s life spending time with him. That, in turn, leads to fears about her intentions, and we’re entering next week’s episode very nervous that she’s going to make some sort of play for Noah now that she’s formed some sort of relationship with him. We haven’t gotten any sense that Sheila is a malicious person, but she loves her grandson and likely cherishes this part of her family.
It’s fair to wonder if Sheila could be doing something dramatic entering the SVU fall finale, but there are also a few other thoughts to ponder over as well. For example, what if we see someone who takes Noah away from both of them and forces them to work together to find him? The most obvious scenario is not often the one that plays out on SVU, and Benson could end up suspecting Sheila is up to something (since she’s so close to the situation and understandably protective of Noah) and misses a hint that something terrible is coming from a different direction.
