Mindhunter season 2 renewal official at Netflix

Mindhunter season 2 renewal

While it’s been rumored for quite some time, it appears that a Mindhunter season 2 renewal is finally a go at Netflix.

Today, the streaming provider confirmed the news in a way that they often do with some of their shows — a video announcement on their official Twitter account. This one proclaimed that they need to see more suspects, which is great news for us as viewers, but maybe not great news for some of these characters, who often found themselves consumed by some of what they were going through in their studies.

There were many appealing aspects about Mindhunter right from the start, which of course began with a fantastic cast — it’s hard to turn away from anything featuring Jonathan Groff and Anna Torv, stars of such shows as Looking and Fringe. While both of those programs probably should’ve went on longer than they did, we’re certainly glad that we’re seeing them both on something else worthy of their talents now. Cameron Britton is probably one of the show’s breakout stars from the first season, as he took on the role of serial killer Ed Kemper.

Given the timing of the Mindhunter season 2 renewal, coupled with the rumors about the next production cycle, odds are that new episodes are going to premiere at some point in 2018. This is a show that Netflix had a lot of confidence in and for good reason — it’s got David Fincher as an executive producer and we like to think that he’s earned a whole lot of good will from his work on Se7en, Fight Club, Panic Room, Zodiac, and a number of other projects with dark themes. Netflix also needs some good fictionalized crime series — many of their shows don’t take on this subject matter in such a way. This show is creepy, psychological, and intelligent in a way that some others in this genre aren’t. We’re very excited to see what the powers-that-be choose to do next with the series.
