Supergirl season 3 midseason finale preview: Reign, Supergirl face off

While the Supergirl season 3 midseason finale may not have been teased much during tonight’s Crisis on Earth-X crossover, know that it’s coming. Not only that, but it will be massive episode!

You don’t have to look any further than the title for some more evidence of that: “Reign.” This is the installment that will feature the first of what could be many showdowns featuring Reign and Supergirl. This could be the first appearance of Odette Annable in the costume above, just as it could also be the first time that you see some other connections form — namely, the one between Lena Luthor and James Olsen. They weren’t exactly on the same page at the start of the season, but clearly things are going to change between the two.

REIGN CHALLENGES SUPERGIRL – Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) investigates a mysterious symbol popping up all over National City, tracing its origins back to an ancient prophecy and the mark of the World Killer, Reign (Odetee Annable). Meanwhile, the tension between Lena (Katie McGrath) and Morgan Edge (guest star Adrian Pasdar) continues to build, causing James to step in and offer up some protection, and possibly igniting a spark in the process. Glen Winter directed the episode written by Paula Yoo & Caitlin Parrish (#309). Original airdate 12/4/17.

This episode will probably end in a way that leaves you very excited for what is going to be coming up next, given that there are many different showdowns coming up that will feature the likes of Reign plus many other heroes and villains. We’ve just scratched the surface of the Mon-El story and beyond that, there is a story that will feature Winn Schott’s mother for the first time.

If you don’t watch any of the other superhero shows on The CW, this episode is probably going to be much more up your alley than anything that what you saw tonight. The big crossovers do have a ton of appeal to fans of the entire Arrow-verse, but are probably confusing to everyone else.
