After The Blacklist, what could Ryan Eggold’s next TV destination be?
What we do know about Eggold first and foremost is this: He’s the sort of performer who can do a wide array of different things. He’s fronted his own show The Blacklist: Redemption as an action hero, but we’ve also seen him play the soft-spoken teacher and the devoted husband on The Blacklist. He can do drama and romance without any trouble and we imagine that he’s going to be courted by many shows in this vein moving forward after the show.
With this in mind, CarterMatt has a few suggestions as to where we would like to see him appear:
MacGyver – For a multi-episode arc we’ve got a feeling that there is no better venue for Ryan out there — this would allow him to utilize some of his action skills while also giving him the ability to do some great comedic scenes alongside Lucas Till and the rest of the cast.
Will & Grace – Hey, he could stay in the NBC family! Here, the appeal is seeing Ryan do something that is big, bold, and slapstick. It’d be a fun reinvention for him to take on something in this vein.
This Is Us – Could he be a distant relative of one of the Pearsons? If he wants to have a great acting opportunity this could be it. Also, he stays in the NBC family and gets to take on material that is grounded and very personal. As strictly an acting challenge this could be really exciting for him.
The Marvel – Netflix universe – For those who want to see Eggold play a hardcore villain, this could be a more serious alternative to a gig for him on MacGyver. Also, it’d give him a chance to really enter the streaming world in a way that he has not to date.
Magnum PI – We’ve heard buzz about Ryan being the possible new star of this show after being spotted out with a Tom Selleck sort of mustache. (If this happens, it pretty much negates the MacGyver possibility given that they are in the same universe.) The bad news is that Ryan seems to have the mustache for an upcoming film project as opposed to Magnum PI — but hey, the mustache works and he’d be perfect for the role. We’ll see what happens here.
