Who won the National Dog Show 2017? Thanksgiving marks the wonderful annual tradition with one of the biggest dog shows of the entire year. There’s just something about John O’Hurley’s voice that is soothing to listen to — also, it’s a nice way to break up the monotony of the NFL. You’ve got plenty of other weeks during the year in which you can watch football games; heck, you can even watch two of them later today!
The dog show this year was one with many satisfying winners across the groups — we were always very fond of old English sheepdogs to go along with the Staffordshire bull terrier and the French bulldog. These were two of the dogs ultimately competing in Best in Show, a competitive category year after year. Yet, we are no dog trainer and we, by and large, consider the end of the show to just be a random draw where our favorite never wins.
We’ll admit that during the Best in Show judging, one of the things that we were the most captivated by was the fact that there was a dog trainer by Michael Scott. We therefore wanted to imagine that he had a friend named Dwight Schrute that was working behind the scenes as an assistant to the dog trainer. Ultimately, the title went to the Brussels Griffon! It was a bit of an upset to us — we thought the French Bulldog had it!
While we had a favorite who was not the winner here, we’re happy with the dog show as a whole. It’s hard not to be! It’s roughly the same thing every year and we appreciate that. This is not the sort of program that you really need to change up. So long as you’re delivering solid entertainment year in and year out we’re going to be happy, and that is precisely what the show did here. Sometimes, the humor came from the dogs acting up in the midst of being judged — other times, it was the banter and commentary we had in the room while watching the show. That’s one of the fun things about the dog show year after year.
For those wondering, you can see the winning dog in Newton on The Today Show in the morning.
