American Crime Story: Two new promos look into Versace’s life

Katrina

After the success of The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, the series was renewed for a second, third, and fourth season. It was later announced that the second would be about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the third would focus on the assassination of Gianni Versace, and the fourth would revolve around the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky sex scandal. However, this past summer, it was announced that Versace would replace Katrina as the second season and Katrina would now be the third. So here we are with two promos hinting at the creepy, but thrilling life of Versace that fans will embark on during the second season of American Crime Story. CarterMatt has two promos for you below to help get you ready for what’s to come:

The 1st promo – This first promo isn’t long and features Édgar Ramírez (Gianni Versace) and Penélope Cruz (Donatella Versace) standing in front a mirror looking happy with Ramírez hugging Cruz from behind. They duo aren’t talking, just looking at themselves in the mirror. However, there’s a voice over that we assume is the two of them as they talk about how they wouldn’t be anything without the other.

While the message is sweet, something about the whole scene screams creepy. Between the lighting and the look on their faces, it just gives away something that is very intriguing and makes you want to watch the show to figure out why the creators have set the mood of the season this way.

The 2nd promo – The second promo is even creepier in than the first. The promo starts off showing Versace asleep by his pool with lighting similar to the first in that it gives a sinister feel to it. Then it flashes to the pool with a man walking through the pool. Versace is still asleep as the man comes up behind him and just when the man gets close enough, Versace opens his eyes and the promo fades to black.

If anything, the fluorescent lighting does the job of making you shiver at the pure sinister feel of the scene. As some of you may guess, the man that comes up behind Versace is his killer, Andrew Cunanan (Darren Criss). Even though we know Versace will die, the foreshadowing this scene details gives hint that there is more to the story than just a famous designer being murdered, making fans count down the days until the new season premieres.
