NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 episode 8 preview: The 200th episode

John M. Jackson

NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 episode 8 is going to be a more important episode than most — and for a mighty good reason. This is the 200th episode of the show! This is a huge milestone that any show should celebrate and for a wide array of different reasons. Very few shows make it to this point, especially those that have the potential to run for another hundred episodes and beyond. Is NCIS: Los Angeles slowing down at all? It doesn’t feel like it.

For this big occasion, the producers have a couple of really cool things planned, starting of course with getting John M. Jackson aboard as Chegwidden. It’s still interesting to think about the lengthy history of this character — Jackson first appeared all the way back in 1996 during JAG. Now, he’s reprising this role more than twenty years later for this show. (The original NCIS was a spin-off of JAG, and of course NCIS: Los Angeles is a spin-off of the original.) This episode is also bringing you more of Pamela Reed as Deeks’ mother, and when you consider more of her own TV history it’s easy to be excited about having her back on the show.

The NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 episode 8 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below gives you a pretty good sense as to what is coming up:

“This Is What We Do” – The NCIS team must locate a group of unknown assailants who illegally crossed the border and attacked California Highway Patrol officers. Also, Homeland Security sends over Specialist Sydney Jones (Ashley Spiller), Nell’s older and bossy sister, to assist NCIS with the case, on the 200th episode of NCIS: LOS ANGELES, Sunday, Nov. 19 (9:30-10:30 PM, ET/ 9:00-10:00 PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network. Guest stars include John M. Jackson as Admiral A.J. Chegwidden and Pamela Reed as Roberta Deeks, Deeks’ mother.

It definitely seems as though you’re going to be getting a pretty intense case when it comes to what’s going on with the California Highway Patrol officers, but seeing Nell’s sister is admittedly the part of this that actually excites us the most. Remember here that there aren’t too many opportunities that we get to see loved ones of the team! It’s what happens when they all have a wide array of other responsibilities and things going on with the job.

We would love to see a few little nods and Easter eggs sprinkled into this episode to honor the 199 episodes that aired before it — if you’re not going to present a big event like a Deeks/Kensi wedding, you should at least offer up a few other things to be excited about.
