The Inhumans finale is going to feature an Iwan Rheon character squaring off against another man in an epic battle. After what he went through as Ramsay Bolton on Game of Thrones, shouldn’t this feel rather familiar to him at this point?
This Inhumans finale is setting the stage to be the biggest and boldest one that the ABC show has put on the air this year — there’s been a lot of talk about the IMAX screenings of the first two episodes, with the irony being that this one may be better suited for it. This is the conclusion of the story and the title alone suggests that a destiny could be fulfilled: “…And Finally: Black Bolt.” The synopsis CarterMatt has for you below offers up a little more insight:
“It’s brother versus brother as the final showdown between Black Bolt and Maximus takes an unexpected turn – one with lasting consequences for all of Inhumanity.”
We should note that the Inhumans finale promo hints that this could be the “season finale” as opposed to the end of the series, but we don’t want to lie to you: This is almost certainly the end of the road for the ABC program. While we do love a number of the performers on the show (including Rheon and Anson Mount), and feel like much of the critical community has been unnecessarily harsh, this is a show that just isn’t bringing in the ratings. It’s not getting the numbers to meet expectations (even for a Friday night time-slot) and it’s also a fairly pricey show to boot with all of the special effects.
As we start to look towards what the final legacy of Inhumans will be it could be easy enough to describe it in this way: A movie turned into an eight-episode series that should have remained a movie. We love the ambition, but this reminds us in some ways of Gorilla Grodd episodes of The Flash — there is some cool stuff you get to see, but with the budget being what it is, there are only so many opportunities to see it. It’s just too expensive to include CGI in the majority of an episode. You have to scatter it out here and there.
